Celebrating International Women’s Day
Celebrating the Women of WorldWinner

On International Women’s Day, we’re proud to recognize the women who help make WorldWinner what it is today. From game design and development to marketing, analytics, and player services, they are shaping the future of skill gaming. Leading the way is our CEO, Nancy MacIntyre, who continues to pave the way for women in gaming, alongside a team of talented professionals driving innovation every day.
This year, we gathered for a virtual coffee hour, a time to share experiences, reflect on our journeys, and connect with one another. The conversation was filled with insights, laughter, and powerful moments as we discussed what it means to be a woman in gaming.
How We Got Here: From Childhood Dreams to Gaming Careers
Many of us didn’t start out in gaming, but our paths led us here in unexpected ways:
“I explored a lot of paths, art school, cosmetology, even considering the medical field (until I realized I can’t handle blood!). But I’ve always loved games, so when I got the opportunity to work in QA, I jumped on it. I absolutely love it!” – Melody
“My first gaming job was testing art assets for my mom’s company. It was a summer job, and now here I am, still in gaming!” – Heather
“From wanting to be a princess when I was little, to dreaming of translating French literature, my career path took some twists and turns. Now, I’m combining my love for creativity and strategy in gaming!” – Ashley
“I wanted to be a marine biologist, until I realized I’d have to be good at swimming. That was the end of that dream!” – Jamie
“I once wanted to be a “bad cop,” the kind that knows everything and takes no nonsense! Instead, I became an architect, and then dropped the mic on that career to chase my dream of making games.” – Aisha
For some, gaming was always part of the plan, while others found their way here from marketing, tech, or entirely different industries. Regardless of how we arrived, the passion for creativity, problem-solving, and innovation keeps us here.
Breaking Barriers & Building Each Other Up
While gaming has traditionally been a male-dominated industry, many of us have found welcoming and supportive spaces within WorldWinner
“I stepped into my first gaming company, and I didn’t feel like I had to continuously prove myself. I walked in with a group of men, and they understood that I knew what I was talking about in my role. That was new and exciting for me.” – Amber
“We don’t always realize how rare it is to work with women in leadership until someone points it out. I had a candidate tell me it was refreshing to see women leading in gaming, and it really made me appreciate what we have here.” – Marcia
Mentorship and community play a key role in supporting women in gaming:
“No matter where you are in your career, it’s never too early to mentor someone else. You always have knowledge and experience to share, and you’ll often get just as much out of it as they do. Helping others grow strengthens our industry and our team.” – Nancy
“I’ve been lucky to have both a male and female mentor who saw me for my skills, not just as a woman in games. Their belief in me opened doors, pushed me forward, and proved that talent speaks for itself.” – Audrey
“Mentorship is about learning from those around you, asking questions, and sharing knowledge. I believe in lifting others up, making sure people have the tools and insights they need to grow and succeed.” – Amber
Advice to Women Entering the Gaming Industry
For those looking to break into gaming, the women of WorldWinner had valuable advice:
“Right now, gaming is going through a tough time and it’s very difficult to break into the field without gaming industry experience. My advice? Build your skills in related fields – tech, marketing, design – so you have multiple pathways in.” – Nancy
“Ask the questions. Don’t be afraid to speak up. You’ll never learn if you don’t put yourself out there.” – Amber
“Find your support system. Whether it’s a mentor, a women-in-gaming group, or just a great team, having people to lean on makes all the difference.” – Heather
